Form
The silhouette matters. We look for proportions, curves, textures and geometry that give a piece its own identity without making it difficult to live with.
About Orbita · Australia
Orbita is an independent Australian design brand creating sculptural lighting and considered objects through digital design, 3D printing and meticulous hands-on finishing.
Our point of view
A softer glow. A stronger silhouette. A small detail that changes the whole atmosphere.
01 / Our story
Orbita started with a fascination for design, technology and the freedom of making an idea real, layer by layer.
What began as an exploration of 3D printing became a way to create contemporary pieces with personality — objects that feel considered, expressive and easy to live with.
We begin with a feeling, a form or a problem worth solving, then prototype and refine until the piece earns its place in a room. The question behind every design is simple: what will this add to the atmosphere of a space?
02 / Made in Australia
Our pieces are designed digitally, tested in real spaces, 3D printed, assembled and carefully finished on the Gold Coast, Queensland.
Keeping the process close gives us room to refine quickly, produce in smaller runs and keep improving the details instead of designing around unnecessary mass production.
Every piece moves through a considered in-house process before it becomes part of someone’s space.
03 / What guides us
Every Orbita piece is developed around the relationship between how it looks, how it works and how it makes a space feel.
The silhouette matters. We look for proportions, curves, textures and geometry that give a piece its own identity without making it difficult to live with.
Good design has a job to do. Whether it creates light, holds something or simply anchors a space, function is part of the design — never an afterthought.
Light, shadow, colour, scale and presence work together to create the feeling a piece brings into the room.
04 / Materials & making
Most Orbita printed forms begin in PLA, a plant-derived bioplastic selected for its clean finish, dimensional detail and suitability for digital small-batch production. Lighting pieces can also combine diffusers, LED components and other hardware chosen for the final design.
Fine layer lines and subtle variations are a natural part of additive manufacturing. We see them as part of how the object is made — not something that needs to pretend to be factory-moulded.
Before a piece becomes part of the collection, we consider the complete experience: proportion, finish, assembly, packaging and the way it arrives in your hands.
05 / What we create
Orbita lives at the intersection of lighting, décor and functional design. Different categories, one point of view.
Table lamps and ambient pieces designed to shape both light and mood.
Decorative and sculptural forms made to give shelves, desks and rooms a stronger identity.
Useful pieces where practical purpose and a distinctive form belong together.
